HOW TO REWARD GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

Knute Rockne, former football coach of Notre Dame, said “One man practising good sportsmanship is far better than 50 others preaching it.”

How important good sportsmanship is while you are playing a sport! Is it sportsmanship only confined up to the sports? Do we apply sportsmanship in our whole life other than sports?

Before telling anything about sportsmanship, I would like to clarify that sportsmanship is nothing but an obligation to the rules of sports. We make various rules in a sport just to conduct sports in organized ways.

It makes sense that winning or losing in a game is an outcome, and it never persists because when one game ends, and we start playing a new game, a winner of the last game may prove the loser in the next game or vice versa.

In other words, our status of success or failure may change over time. Therefore, we must not lose our temper or admirations to other participants, opponents & their fans, teammates, coaches, and officials organizing the sports events.

We have to respect everyone in and out of sports. Obey the rules of sports with equal zeal each time it needed the most.

You believe it or not, but the same sportsmanship is applicable & anticipated in our real-life. It means tolerance, respect, and friendly behaviour in life are the most sought-after characteristics of someone’s personality. Real-life Examples of Good Sportsmanship

Shaking Hands with Opponents.

Once the game is over, players must shake hands with opponents. It is a common rule in the world of sports. You may have a question that why is it? The reason is pretty obvious because there is no place of arrogance in the game.

In due course, a player must show his or her admiration/friendliness to others, and shaking a hand is the first step towards it.

Helping Opponents.

If possible, you as a player take one step ahead and can extend the helping hands to anyone in the opposite team whenever they needed. It can increase sympathy and feeling of friendliness in the hearts of your opponents as well as whoever has witnessed it.
Take Care of Injured One

A player must remember that play is for fun & healthy competition. It is not a war at all. So, the injury of anyone in any team must become a matter of concern for all. Each player must take care to avert any possible injury to anyone while playing. If accidentally it occurs, first aid must be a priority then.

Honour the Decision of Referees

Fortunately, today we have the latest technologies to get a replay of the past moments in a game. So, we are not solely relying on human referees. Otherwise, sports rules force all players to strictly obey the instructions and accept all decisions taken by them.

Playing Is Everyone’s Right

We know grasping of game skills greatly differs from individual-to-individual. It means a team may have weaker players in some skills. Now, it becomes the duty of stronger ones to take care of weaker players when critical moments come into play.

No Jealousy

Become zealous is the nature of human beings. Unfortunately, we play sports with an aim of complete tolerance and expect broad-hearted and broad-minded game-play. So, no jealousy at all. Throw it and give place to friendliness instead in your heart while playing any sports.

Encourage Excellence

Unbiased gameplay is only possible when each player in the game is ready to encourage excellent play even done by the opponents and should give that player/s congratulation for the best performance.

No Cheating

Yes, cheating in any game is completely prohibited. If anyone found guilty, he/she must be punished as per the laws of the game, including temporary suspension of a long-term ban.

No Blaming

Blaming others or creating excuses is a sign of weak psychology. So, it must prohibit the players. Every player should accept failure and apologize for it instead of blaming others for any mistake or failure.

After dying hard efforts we win a trophy. We think of taking pride in the trophy throughout our lifespan. We already have created a trophy case in the living room or office to display our success saga.

But else! With the pace of time that trophy loses its charm and gets old like us!

Will you throw the trophy in the trash bean? Perhaps NO. Your inner will recall that hard work and delight after winning it. You still want to keep it with you but improving its utility by turning the trophy from a mere showpiece to a useful element in your home or office.

Here is my turn to place a couple of ideas to reuse your old trophies in the current post.

Idea No.1 – Turn Your Trophy into a Flower Vase

We know most of the typical trophies are in a cup shape with two handles at the sides and a base at the bottom. You can turn your cup-shaped trophy into a flower vase easily with any alteration at all.

Just fill-up the water and place flowers in it. Done! To extend its life, you can polish it or apply a thin layer of protective chemicals. Cheers!

Idea No.2 – Turn Your Trophy into a Cloth Rack

It seems a bit weird idea but applicable with trophies with figurines. You can fix the base of the trophy on a wooden board with screws or nails. It might act as the anchor/hook for your clothes, coats, caps, ties, and bags.

8 PERFECT TIPS FOR HOSTING A SUCCESSFUL AWARDS CEREMONY

Have you ever participated physically in the Oscar award ceremony as the audience or enjoy it virtually on the TV show? You might have noticed that the recipient often becomes emotional the moment they accept the award. The speech remains truly gratifying whenever they go beyond saying “Thank You” to the donors.

Of course, you cannot find such heightened feelings in all award ceremonies. Still, charm remains the same and serve the same purposes behind the event organization. Every host of the event strives for success. Today I am going to enlist a couple of tips for hosting a successful award ceremony on behalf of Olympia in Sydney, which a top trophy & awards making company in Australia.

What Is Award Ceremony and How Worth It to Host for You?

It is indeed tricky, but the essential questions should ask before investing heavily in hosting an award ceremony.

  • Award ceremony may be a formal or semi-formal event.
  • It offers an immense opportunity to distribute various awards and trophies to honor the achievements of winners in a variety of fields or categories.
  • An award ceremony lets you recognize the hard work and talents of the winner in the formal way that the winners can memorize life-time through awards and trophies in their possession.
  • The audience, internal staff, and world outside of your organization get encouragement through the award ceremony that you hosted. I think it is a big deal in itself when you want to encourage competition among your employees or boost productivity.
  • Another apparent benefit of hosting the award ceremony is grabbing the attention of media at different levels. You can create a buzz in the market for your company, institute, or organization with various media marketing tactics.
  • In short, hosting an award ceremony internally in the organization/company or the public in a town hall or similar public venues dedicated to such events.

Eight (8) Perfect Tips for Hosting a Successful Award Ceremony

If you are striving to host a successful award ceremony, the following tips may contribute a lot.

#1 – Plan the Budget

We know schools are arranging simple award ceremonies by remaining down to earth in all aspects, including venue, stage, and even decoration. Schools are using their playgrounds or available open space without creating any set/stage for an event. They roll down a carpet and place chairs to sit.

However, corporations are looking for classic banquet halls, auditoriums, or book a hotel with such facilities. It is because they have a big budget to allocate for a prestigious event while educational institutes depend on most depending on grants and thin income sources.

Thereby, before doing anything, you must have an adequate budget to arrange an event or give a contract to the event management companies.

#2 – Plan the Venue for the Event

You must pick the venue based on the significance of the award and event. Many internal awards like top sales, the best team, and the best performance are remaining internal events of the organization where guests are a few and take just two or three hours.

In contrast, industry-level awards are big events. Suppose your corporation is going to host it. In that case, you must look at big auditoriums or fully facilitated halls in the city/town. Thousands of people may attend your award ceremony, and you have to offer music, fun, and food based on the importance of the event and their attendees.

Small events can be held in an open garden, playground, a library hall, or an underground garage/hall for extreme privacy. For significant and professional events, you can draw some money from tickets for the seats and give it up to charities.

#3 – Plan the Judges for the Event

Suppose you let your audience casts their votes in the selection of award nominees. In that case, it becomes their active involvement in the event and results in their deep engagement. For the small to a medium-size audience, you can use ballot papers or digital voting through a mobile app along with your expert panels of judges for professional opinions.

Of course, modern mobile applications also enabling a vast audience to participate in the selection process to some extent or break the ties when needs arise.
